Big exhale
Our world is currently a little crazy and out of control. My son gave me this book because it seemed to touch on some similar issues that we are seeing today. I was excited to read it because I wanted to see the parallels that could be drawn by Palahniuk and our current political dynamics.
This book left me speechless, but not in a good way.
I'm not sure what to say about this book. I have read so many of Palahniuk's books and they always come back around in the end. What happened here? This book never came back around.
I was 100 pages into the book and had no idea what was going on. I decided that if I just kept reading, it would all make sense. Palahniuk's books tend to take crazy twists an turns, but then are profound in the end. Not this one.
Usually I read a book in a matter of a few days. I spent three weeks struggling through this book and was so angry when it ended. That's it?!? That was the WHOLE book?!? This book must have been a contractual obligation or something.
I can't really tell you what this book was about. To be honest, even if I tried it would sound chaotic and crazy.
As you can tell, this book was disappointing. It doesn't mean I'm done with Palahniuk, but it might be time for a break for a while.
